The simple fact that in the early 1930's, British printed news was dominated in terms of readership by 2 national daily newspapers, the Daily Mail and the Daily Express. Back then they each were owned by 2 Lords - Rothermere owned the Mail and Beaverbrook owned the Express. Now history, in the early to mid 30's there was a lot of propaganda concerning race and nationalism in the UK, building up towards world war 2 - including a strong nationalist movement in Germany. Both of the British newspapers published some news and opinions that reflected this feeling, moving towards a more right wing approach to politics and politicians in its reporting to the nation.
With such a high level of domination of right wing leaning political news and views in the UK, the die was cast for what turned out to be an overriding factor from then onwards over the coming decades - which persists to this day.
When the Conservative Party won the 2010 General Election, ownership of most prominent national newspapers were noticeably right wing, with just a few powerful right wing owners, now not just British but many foreign owned ones too.
With the 2 original dominant newspapers still a major factor in that domination, the Daily Mail and the Daily Express are now a strong influencer of political discourse - only now amplified even more so by British TV news stations broadcasting the same right wing news 24/7 making that news even more powerful.
With Power, It Breeds Confidence, then Arrogance as well as Entitlement - leading to Excess?
RIGHT WING DAILY MAIL:
Yesterday we published the absurd claim in the Daily Mail that 1 single boat carrying 230 immigrants arriving in the UK made Labours attempts to tackle the Channel crisis were branded a 'complete laughing stock'. Completely ignoring the fact that *Net migration is at a 14-year low, falling to 171,000 — the lowest non-Covid figure since 2012*
Todays evidence of right wing media's brainwashing comes from the other newspaper damaging the UK cohesion now for over 90 years:
RIGHT WING DAILY EXPRESS:
The Daily Express has published yet another politically-charged article with right wing Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch claiming that “Britain’s tax burden is the highest it’s ever been” while implying this is a problem created in the last two years. *GB2GB are happy to address this and put this right*
LET US PRAY THAT THIS RIGHT WING DOMINATION OF DIVISIVE NEWS REPORTING DOES NOT REACH 100 YEARS IN THE 2030's
Tomorrow we will be examining the 3rd newspaper in this group of right wing exploitation - the i newspaper (Sister of the Daily Mail)
